Bridges Aligned to CCSS

Bridges in Mathematics K-5 has been aligned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).  Correlations and a supplement have been created for each grade level and may be downloaded for free on the Bridges by State page within the Support for Materials section of this Web site. These materials will continue to be refined and subsequent versions will also be available for download at no charge.

Free Materials Grades 5-10

The Math Learning Center is pleased to announce a donation program that will provide supplemental lessons and activities to hundreds of middle and high school teachers. Schools and districts can apply to receive free copies of the teacher’s guides for Math and the Mind’s Eye units 1-8. More information.

MLC Virtual Catalog Online

The Math Learning Center's 2010 product catalog is now online and available for viewing as a virtual catalog. You can easily "thumb" through each page of the product catalog online more clearly than a pdf and without having to wait for the pdf to open or download. For those who still wish to download or print pages of the catalog, the pdf version is still available.

Bridges K-5 Approved in Utah

The Utah State Office of Education recently recommended Bridges in Mathematics for their districts as a primary level curriculum. In the compilation of their review of the curriculum, they stated that Bridges in Mathematics covered 100 percent of the Utah State Core and catered to Utah State Core through the supplemental binder. They found these materials to be visually appealing for each grade level and also mentioned that the Bridges workplace activities, similar to center activities and/or the practice component of a lesson, create a pedagogically sound program.

Tumwater S.D. Adopts Bridges

Following an extensive review of four of the math curricula on their state list, the Tumwater School District in Washington state recently adopted MLC's Bridges in Mathematics. The district's criteria included curriculum that aligns to the Washington state standards, helps develop fluency, improves students' conceptual understanding, and will also work for math intervention, according to Sue Anderson, the district's curriculum and professional development supervisor.

New State Correlations Online

We recently developed new Bridges in Mathematics correlations for six additional states and have posted these on our Website under the Support for Materials section. The correlations are grade-level specific resources that align to each state's curriculum standards. You can view the correlations by clicking on the state links below:

Rekenrek and Number Line Books

The Math Learning Center recently added two new books for teachers to our product list. Learning to Think Mathematically with the Rekenrek gives teachers the practical knowledge, theoretical basis, and expertise to use a powerful mathematical tool called the Rekenrek (also known as the Artithmetic Rack).

The second book, Learning to Think Mathematically with the Number Line, helps teachers effectively use the number line as a model for mathematical learning and helps children develop confidence, fluency, and facility with numbers.
