About Professional Development

We work with you to create a combination of services that will be effective in your setting. Our workshop leaders and consultants are dedicated educators who have experienced first-hand the rewards and challenges of the classroom.

Workshops

Each year hundreds of educators attend Math Learning Center workshops for practical teaching strategies and insights into how children learn. Whether it focuses on broad topics or a specific curriculum or resource, an MLC workshop offers a rich learning experience. More »

Teacher Support Services

In addition to workshops we offer a range of consulting services to support teachers.

Demonstration Teaching: MLC's experienced leaders model effective teaching strategies in the classroom. Following the session, teachers have time to debrief with the leader. This time includes discussion, questions and answers, encouragement, and support.

Classroom Observation: This service pairs nicely with demonstration teaching. MLC's experienced leaders observe teachers in their own classrooms and offer feedback and practical suggestions, as well as encouragement and support.

Mentor Development: This option nurtures local teacher-leaders who are then able to continue supporting the effort to improve mathematics education in a school or district.

Presentations: Presentation can be designed to introduce a curriculum or a teaching approach to a group of teachers, administrators, parents, or community leaders.

Commited to Professional Development

MLC believes that successful math education begins with professional development.  We are committed to providing support and services that deepen math understanding and enhance classroom practices for all teachers.
