#BridgesMath

School is in full swing, and so is MLC’s Twitter account. Teachers are sharing tweets and pictures of students at Number Corner, students helping classmates, and students just plain having fun learning math.

One of the things we are passionate about with Bridges in Mathematics is that students learn more than just math. Bridges helps them explain their thinking, evaluate various methods, and work as group to find a solution. Students are encouraged to critique and challenge not only others’ solutions, but also the paths to their solutions. Miss Chadsey tweeted a picture of her students working together to come up with equations that equal 10. Follow Miss Chadsey.

Speaking of paths to a solution… last week Mrs. Clyburn showed how her fourth graders rocked at Number Corner, finding two different ways to solve a single problem. Follow Mrs. Clyburn.

One of our favorite tweets around the MLC office is this next one. These kindergartners are choosing their own Work Places and learning to be independent. To see more of what these young learners are up to, follow them here.

And we love to see all the budding mathematicians in Tammy Oleksiw’s class fully engaged in Number Corner. Follow Tammy Oleksiw.
